I found a 260 that is all one color and has a complete interior with only some floorboard rust, but the engine has a blown head gasket. What is a car like that worth?

I know of several good engines and 5sp transmissions from late model Z's that have been wrecked that could be purchased and just dropped in for less than $500.

For All the "What's It Worth" Guys...

the answer is, something is worth what you're willing to pay, no more and no less. If the seller won't come down to your price, or if you won't come up to his, then don't make the purchase. The same formula works in reverse on sales. It's as simple as that.

I bought my 78 280 for $500 last year. It had a bent valve. Of course, I've put over $8000 into it... but that's another story for another time.

Generally speaking, rust is your worst enemy. If the car doesn't have rust, and it's only a blown head gasket to fix to get it going again, then $500 is about right. As long as you're able to do the mechanical work yourself and source used parts you should be golden.
