It might seem to some that the operant question would be "do you run the stock resistor brick?"

If so, you need to pay attention to the issue of the resistance of the replacement coil. The FSM advises that the total (resistor and coil) resistance should be some 3ohms, and since a sound brick provides some 1.5ohms, the coil should provide the same.

Actually, the term I used was "resistor brick", an off-handed metaphor employed to avoid any confusion with the ballast resistors for the injectors. Sorry if this bit of short-hand clarification offended you.

The point was well intended, since the O.P.'s vague description included two years of production that required some due diligence in the selection of replacement coils that would be ill-served by a casual/uninformed choice.
