What are they?

Can anyone please tell me what the two silver vacuum switch thingies are right next to the fusible links on a '78z. They each have 2 vacuum lines that connect to them and one electrical plug that hooks to them. I'm in the process of stipping the engine bay in prep for pulling the engine and tranny. I've been following Humble's suggestions in his Zcar restoration book and tagging everything as I disconnect it. My wife walked out and started laughing at me and said my car looked like a bad yard sale with all of the tags hanging off of everything.

Thanks,
Brent

they are a headache. They (in my opinion) are not needed. I got rid of mine years ago. They are often the reason your A/C , defroster - heater do not work. I you are interested in bypassing them let me know I will show you how.

Trey,
I figured they had to have something to do with my heater not working, although the A/C works like a charm. If I can get rid of them I'd appreciated knowing what you did. Thanks in advance.

OK, all you have to do is take the vac line coming from the manifold and connect it to the white plastic bottle. take the other inlet on the white plastic bottle connect a hose to it and run it to the vac hose at the firewall.

if you would like a drawing to help get me your e mail and I can send it to you.

Also plumb a check valve between the intake manifold and the white bottle, they have these at parts stores in the "HELP" brand.
Trey,
Would you mind sending me a pic?
Thanks,
