Hi and Merry Christmas to you.

I fried my amp guage a long time ago due to a short. I have replaced the stock alternator with a 70Amp one from a Nissan Sunny. Will a replacement stock Amp/fuel guage be OK or do I need a different one?

1971 240Z.

A stock Amp/fuel gauge should be fine as long as the short has been fixed and no wiring mods to the gauge have been done. The Amp gauge works off a ratio (milliamps) from the shunt in the engine compartment.

Thanks - something simple for once!

I'm re-wiring the dash soon anyway - now all I need is that guage!
