Wet problems, question about keeping TPS dry

230 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  77 260Z
Hey guys,

It's been pretty wet here in Oklahoma the last few days and my baby's been running not so well. Typical wet connector problems with engine cutting out and stuff like that.
Most likely I think it's the TPS. Anyways, I will try to pick up some dielectric grease to cover some of my connections. But I was wondering if I can put some RICE grains inside the TPS box to soak up any moisture that gets in there ... will that keep it dry (enough)? Is there anything else I could use that will soak up moisture and isn't biological like rice.
Thanks guys!

Change the connector.. You can cut, solder and heat shrink, right? Use a later style connector that is quick release and has a seal in the inside as well as on each wire. Use the type of heat shrink that has a sleeve in the inside that melts when you heat it. This creates a weather tight seal. Very simple and makes life a little nicer...
I have used something much simpler. I used to use it in the USAF when I forked on the fighters. The USAF used Aquanet hair spray for electrical sealer. Take a hair dryer and dry out your dixxy and TPS. Then spray the **** out of all your connections, dizzy included.
