Welding rear struts

Just wondering how safe it is to weld on the ZX rear struts, for making coil overs and things like that, if I take it slowly and cool down the strut after each weld (MIG) will it be alright? Thanks.

I wouldnt. Look for slownrusty's post on how he did coilovers on his zx. He cut off the spring perch and made a tube that slid over the strut that held the threaded sleve. I'd post the rest of the info, but i am at work now.
It'll be fine (just dont do it with a cartridge inside).
zx rear don't have removeable cartridges.
I would buy a true coilover shock and then just make a new upper mount that converts from strut to a double shear shock type mount. You already have a shock mount on the bottom or trailing arm.

You don't want to weld onto the strut itself.
