on the 280zx there is a check button, when the car is on the display is red. when i push it the washer sign flashes. this is really no big deal but today when i started it, the light came on and said OK. i was happy no more annoying light, but then when i turned it off and back on the red light was back. my question is, when everything is ok on the car does it say "OK" and then go away, or would something like the "Washer" keep it from going off. also what causes the washer light to come on. the tank is full of water but nozzles have never worked as long as i've had the car. i think the motor is bad.

I'm pretty sure there's a sensor in the washer fluid tank (sort of a float thing). If your tank is full but the light comes on and occasionally goes off I'd suspect a wiring problem, perhaps a loose connector or short.
