hello ive had this rattle sound thats intermitted in the valve train,on my 71 240z..so after checking everything..lash.clearances. rockers, lash pads i noticed that one of the valves collets had a small space where the two collet halfs did not meet to form a solid circle..i could see this looking down into the valve retainer...its a small space can maybe slide a 0.12- 0.13 feeler gauge between collets..my question..do the collets meet half moon to half moon so to speak to make a full circle ??( am i making sense here???) if i have to replace collets..what is the easiest way with the head still on the engine???? i have a spring compresser that fits over spring without removing head but seems that cam rod will be in the way??? thankyou for your help michele
