Hey, just had a question about putting a V8 in an 80 ZX, will I have to buy a special bracket and use my datsun a/c compressor, or can I use a gm product? And what about the alternator and power steering pump? Later guys

You'll probably have to fabricate a brackets to mount the Datsun components to a small block. I haven't seen any brackets for sale. I could be wrong. The best source for information on V8 swaps is at http://www.hybridz.org

Serach the old forum postings and ask questions. Great group of knowledgable guys there.

Good luck

You are better off using all GM hardware. Fabricating proper brackets for ac compressor, PS pump and alternator would be difficult at best.

I have done a V8 conversion on my '79ZX. I have a lot of pictures and lots of trial and error experience. E-mail me if you have any specific questions.

thanks greimann, I'll email you when I get closer to actually doing the swap, prob. a month or so. Have been debating which would be more practical, rebuilding my L28, or going with the V8.
