Somebody help!!
I took my intake manifold off my 82 280zx(non turbo 2 seater) to have it cleaned back in July, and it hasnt run since. I have every thing hooked up correctly but when I had the fuel lines disconected from the injectors I hooked the battery back up( in order to roll my windows up), and I had screw drivers clamped in the fuel lines to prevent fuel loss during maintenece. When I rolled the windows up fuel sprayed every where, now I get a funny vibration and grinding noise from above my blower moter from under the dash. Is this a relay or did I screw the fuel regulator up? I figure whatever it is I did a number on it and screwed the pressure in the fuel system up. If anyone could help with some answers or point me in the direction of a good mechanic in the Austin Tx area I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Disconnect the fuel line from the fuel filter at the fuel rail and put the loose end in a 1 gallon container.

Turn the key to "Run" and your fuel pump should run for 5 seconds an then shut off. Did clean fuel come out of the line?

This line goes on the Upper fuel rail. Possibly you switched them around?

The noise under the dash is the fuel pump relay. It should click but not make any other noise.

Is your blower motor in the Off position? Did something decide to nest in there for the winter?

cikdog,

My timing chain had slipped recently and when I went to put everything back together I got the same weird sound your describing under the pass dash. Tried troubleshooting it but everything seemed to run fine...just the darn noise. I then noticed the sensor light on. I'm not sure why but I hit the cruise on/off switch on the dash and then the noise stopped (when held in the on postion). After working with it a bit nothing worked..still has the same noise. I then disconnect the cruise from inside the eng. compartment and now everything is happy...just no cruise and the sensor light still on. I've not had time to work with it since, but IMHO you've got something backwards or a short which would probably be in the engine compartment as that's were the fuel issue was.
