you didnt state the year of your Z, but lets imagine it is a 280ZX.
when the emergency flashers switch is not COMPLETERLY back, the turn signals wont work.

that is just a possibility...

I had a silimar problem. The only way I got them to work (81 zx) was to connect a couple of the wires going into the emergency flasher switch. I can't tell you which ones without taking it apart again and it's pouring rain out there today. This was several years ago. I'm guessing the flasher switch is bad and I haven't gotten around to replacing it yet.

As the other posts says, the flasher switch must be all the way back. Try switching it a few times to see if they work. Also, start practicing your hand signals!! Check fuses too.

The problem is almost certainly the hazzard switch

I and many others on this forum have had the same problem. The solution is to take apart the hazzard switch and clean the contacts. The turn signal wires are routed through this switch. Do a search on the archives to find out exactly how to do the job.
