I have a 77 280Z and the turn signal won't do anything when ingaged, I can here a click but I'm not sure if it isn't coming from the turn lever mechanism or from a relay, it seems to come from the steering column.

Fuses are always the first thing to check, but assuming they're ok.. Do the emergency blinkers work? If they do, but the turn signals don't you might want to check the switch and connections leading from it. My '72 had that problem, you could hear the click and the back ones worked, but the front and dash indicator wouldn't light. Corroded switches were the culprit.

If the blinkers don't work either, it could be the relay or any number of connections.

On my 280zx the turn signals didn't work. I found the hazard switch wires unpluged, connected them and then the turn signals worked also. Are your hazards working?

If the hazards work, then it may be a dirty switch, remove the plastic cover over the switch, and spray the contacts real good with WD 40. works like a charm.

My 76 280Z had the same problem and it was a corroded wiring harness on passenger side under dash... heater core was slowly leaking unto connection.

My friends 75 had the problem and it was a corroded or burned bulb... I forget which.
Both options are easy enough to check.

good Luck
