You can really run a turbo on any Z motor and get away with it. You'll just have to run lower boost. **** NONE of the Nissan Z turbos got intercoolers until 1990. As long as the motor is in good shape, as far as pistons and rings and no oil burning, you can slap a turbo on. Just need the manifold and oil pan, or modify yours for an oil return line, and a few other goodies. However it's easier to just get a turbo motor, because if it's in good shape, the stock bottom end will hold 300hp. Thats a lot.
