I have always dreamed about putting a turbo motor out of an 81-83 turbo into my n/a 81 2+2, but recently I was thinking of a slight problem that might occur while doing this swap. I have noticed that in 82, all zx's went to power rack and pinion steering (at least for the power steering models). From 79-81 the power steering cars were recirculating ball units (or something likt that). I wonder if they did this because the powere steering in the older cars would have caused clearance problems with the turbo on american cars, so they went to the more compact rack and pinion for the power steering. If this is true, my swap would be quite a bit more complicated. Does anybody know the answer?
