I am installing a turbo motor and T5 tranny into an early 260z and was wondering if the turbo driveshaft really needs to be shortened or not. I have looked in the archives and the answers were both yes and no. I plan on putting an R200 LSD in as well, if that makes a difference. I really would like to hear from anyone that has actually done this swap.

I have a T5 in a '77 280Z w/R200 and had to shorten the ZX Turbo Driveshaft 1".
Also, to make things fit you should use the transmission crossmember from the Turbo ZX. and change the flange on the diff.

Give these guys a call to have the part done. They will tell you how to measure it for correct fit. I would suggest getting a turbo driveline and use the flange off the turbo car for the flange. Their number is (800) 622-4327 they are priced very reasonable and do good work fron what I understnd. I have spoken to them about my tranny upgrade and the drive line and they sopund good to me.
