I know for 75-76 (maybe other models also) non-cali models used dual pickup distributors and had 7 wires at the transistor unit.
Brown, Green, Red, Blue, White, Black w/ White, Black
Cali models used a single pickup and had 6 wires at the unit.
Green, Red, Blue, Black w/ White, Black w/ White, Black
The only white wire goes to the "advance control relay" which chooses the retard pickup coil until the engine warms up, then selects the advance pickup. This is a function of the transistor unit.
If you figure out more, or this made sense, then ask more.
