The firewall tag show L28 (ET) 2753
Tans Axle FS5R90A RC35

So it has the 5 speed
Other posts show RC35 as 3.54 gears

But what is the FS5R90A?

I assume it's going to be an open diff R200

It's from an 82 Turbo

The VIN seems to show 83 maybe? JN1CZ04S5DX

So the D would be the year, so 83?
C is turbo.

The main thing is confirming it's an R200.

According to the Zhome website, all 81-83 turbo models have a R200, 3.54.
Ok, I suspected they all had the R200, but didn't know the gears would all be the same. I've heard they were taller gears so that the turbo could spin up and stay up for a while.

Thanks.

If you go to the zhome website (I'd link to it but I think that's frowned upon) you'll see there are R180's, R200's, 3.54's and 3.90's.

There are mistakes made in a lot of the websites out there and even on Carl's sometimes. The 280 zx turbo used 3.54 differential gearing only in the automatic cars. The manual trans turbo cars used a 3.70 gear ratio. All turbo cars used the R200 diff. Most N/A 280 zx cars with the automatics used the R180 and 3.54 gearing. Most of the 79-81 base model zx's used the R180 with 3.54 gearing regardless of the type of trans used. Here's an odd one. The 83 2+2 N/A with an automatic used the R180 with CV joint half shafts. So far as I know that's the only model that used the R180 with CV joints. The rest of the 83 cars used R200's with CV joints. I can get brand new CV half shafts for the R180. One last thing, KarlJay, these cars don't have transaxles, or tansaxles as you called it. These cars have separate transmissions and differentials. Z man of Washington
