the 4 or 5 spd trans will bolt in, and work on 83 280zx, as long as the 4 spd is the two-piece
type, 71.5+ or newer. speedo reading would probably be off, but if you were in an emergency situation, 4spd would get you out of it. If you wish to rebuild your 83 5spd, we have kits in stock. thanks,Joe

Tranny Rebuild kit

Hey Joe,
I have a 5 speed 83 that I need a rebuild kit for, Non-turbo. Can you give me a price for the kit, name of manufacturer, and approx. shipping to NM. Also, I swapped another 83 engine into my 70 just to run it a little, and noticed that the bottom of the tranny bolted to nothing, I have it in with only four bolts to the back of the engine, two top, two side. I do not know if this is the original 4-speed, but is this what you meant by 71.5 and on work? Those bottom brackets do not line up, the two removeable ones.
Thanks,
Joshua L.

Joshua, the bearings are Nachi, and I would have to check on the seals, etc. Also, it comes with or without syncros. Give me a call at work in a hour or so, after 8:00am pst, and I'll let you know exactly.
Your 70 240z will need a different crossmember i think. When you call, I'll try to let you know.
Is the tunnel cut out for the shifter? thanks, Joe
