I just read on this eBay car (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=599787611&r=0&t=0) that it runs a transmission from a 300ZX on an L-28 motor. Didn't realize these fit. Is this right, and if so, what gear ratio advantage/disadvantage would they have over a 280ZX tranny? Are they the same length/size?

Well, it looks like he has a "custom" plate on the console top and has used part of the armadillo plate setup from an automatic shifter to fill the hole. I don't know for sure but I understand the auto tranny from an '84 maxima will bolt to the l28engine, perhaps the '84 5 speed can be adapted with little work.

The '84 Maxima is an L28 engine or a close inline six.

The '84+ 300ZX is a V6?
