Tranny off to be refreshed...missing anything?

I'm dropping the 5 speed datsun tranny off at a tranny shop today. This place rebuilds nothing but manual transmission and their work comes from other auto shops. They have done two other transmissions for me over the past 5 years because I showed up at the back door, talked nice and told them I would pay in cash.

The trans in the car leaked and the second gear syncro was hurting. They are going to replace the seals, bearings and syncro's ($550). They will also check out the gears, but I don't expect any issues there. Is there anything else that they should pay attention to or make sure gets replaced while the trans is apart?

Do not forget that there are 2 o-rings that go on the push rod for the shifter. If you do not change these, your tranny will leak. Ask me how I know. 2 trannys, same shop, same results. Part# 32710-14600 $1.28.#32858-U6702 $1.43.
Cooldhand, Thanks for the tip. Is this on the tranny side or the shifter side?
They go on the shifter side. One goes in frt of the shifter guide on the striking rod,the other goes behind the shifter guide just before the rear striking rod. Hope this helps.
A picture would help...my shifter is on top of the tranny. I assume they are replacing front and rear seals? What about bearings? While you are there. I can get them here probably less expensive than you can. just get me the number on them. (If I recall and it has been a few years, when I did mine back in 95, bearings were gonna run about 4100, I got them for $20. Know the same guy.) Nevermind...I reread your post...senior moment.

But clean the outside and paint it. Don't forget the rear seal of the engine.
front and rear seals - check
bearings - check
cleaned - check
painted - check (I'm going with grey)

I called the trans place and told him about the two "O" rings. From our conversation, it sounded like this was something he wouldn't normally replace, but assured me he would find them and replace them for me. Thanks for the tip. It would be quite frustrating to reinstall the motor/trans and have it leak.
Healey, don't forget new syncros. Palladin,I don't have a pic at the moment but, when you look in the fsm,the o-rings are on the rods. One in frt of the shifter guide and behind the shifter guide. The shifter guide is where the shifter mounts to the top of the tranny. healey, the tech was right. These o-rings probably get overlooked when rebuilding the tranny. Like I said,2 trannys, same shop, same problem. That is when I looked at the fsm in more detail. There had to be a reason for the leaks, even with new frt and rear seals. Thats when I saw the o-rings. But,since you are having the tranny refreshed, don't forget the syncros.
Thanks CoolHand,

Syncros - check.

They also called and said the input shaft was worn or had a problem. +$100 and won't get the part until Monday :(
use redline mtl or redline mt90 transmission fluid in it :)
