O.K. anyone out there have an opinion on which tires to put on my 80 280ZX keeping the stock 14" aluminum wheels. 195/70/14 is what it calls for, however have only been able to find a few in that size. Also, any idea what other size would fit properly, as I don't really want to have to change the wheels.

I put 225-60-14 on the same rims that I have on my 76 280. Although they are harder to find now. Mine are 12 years old and I want to replace them. Also a 235-60-14 would work. If you find any let me know please. Chuck

Later ZX's changed to a 205/70-14, these would fit on your car but they are about an 3/4 of an inch taller and 10mm wider. You could also go with a 205/65-14 and these would be about the same height as your 195/70-14's only a little wider. If you wanted to go with a little shorter and wider tire you could go with a 215/60-14 but these are getting even harder to find because most companies have discontinued many of their 14" sizes. These are about an inch shorter than your 195's so you would loose a 1/2" in ground clearance and it will make your speedometer read a little faster than you are really going. 215's are about the widest you would want to go with the stock 6" wide alloy wheels. If you are running the 5 1/2" steels wheels they are a little too wide for them.

im running 14" 215/65. Just got some new BFG Fairway T/A on the back...

I dont think you can go any wider than 215 on the front before you start running out of space and have tyre rubbing the strut. Back there is heaps of room but you would need a wider rim than 6"
