I have a noise in my 280ZX Turbo engine. It is kind of a tick like a valve but it is intermittent - by tha tI mean it is not constant in that it skips a beat every once in a while. I changed oil, etc and it is still there. I first though it wa sa valve that maybe needed adjustment but I have never heard a valve do this. Could it be a rocker arm loose? Or ??

THe car still runs great and the noise goes away under load and very low RPM - for example if I put on the brake and let on the clutch while it is in gear, the noise goes away.

Any help will be appreciated.

it's it 83? if it is, It's your lifter

If you have solid lifters, it could be a valve out of adjustment.

Or it could be an exhaust leak. That can sound like a tick too.
