Throttle shaft leak on SU's how to fix?

1352 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  hughdogZ
Hi guys/gals,

I found that after my rebuild, I cleaned enough crap off the outside that the throttle shafts are leaking now.

Does anyone know how to fix these without having to spend $175 for ZTherapy to install ball bearing T-Shafts?

Thanks in advance,

I used to work for Fuel Systems Specilities and we did these all the time. We would drill out the shaft hole and epoxy in teflon bushing then using valve reamers, size to fit.

I'd look at teflon or nylon bushing that are that size. If you have bushings already, you might be able to replace them.

You might try a new shaft, depending on if the shaft is worn or not. Also, swaping the bodies might work too.

Good Luck, KarlJay.
You are SOL
you will need to get them machined to alllow for the bearings to be pressed in, too much hassle
Thanks for the responses.

I was hoping someone would say just use RTV Silicone...it worked for me.

Time to send them down to Salem!
