Hi folks,
I originally started this post rambling about FAQs, newbies, and so forth... saying how whilst I don't mind helping out the newbies, I'm guessing a fair few of them go begging for information as undoubtably some go by unnoticed.
So, I was thinking we should set up FAQs etc to help.
I know Zhome has some, but as they will admit, it is mainly pre80 Zs that their stuff covers.
At this point I remembered that Zcar did have some kind of FAQs... and went looking. In the Articles section not only did I find kind of what I'm talking about, but I found my old post from last year about removing a dash. *smile* Nice trip down memory lane.
Now, back to it. So...
Say you're a newbie, your car wont rev past 2600rpm... yes, of course, most likely it's your throttle position sensor. We know that. How does a newbie find out. They ask, and are either given the answer, a few other possibilities, or told to search the arvhives.
The archives however dont always prove very useful (no offence Derek!). It is hard to get a search engine to really track down what you want at the best of times. With us all talking about revs, and lights, and fuses, and afms and egrs... it can be like looking for a unicorn at a fiary tales convention.
Now, we do have our "Articles" section (thanks Derek!)... and as I'm not wanting to tell these guys how to run their website (au contraire)... If we make a list of common problems... answers... questions... etc, and do up some good thorough answers... put up our hands for Derek to add those posts to the Articles...
Then instead of telling the newbie "search the archives", we can say "just go over to the Articles, and you'll see a post for that exact problem, and a very good answer to help you out..."
So, thoughts on this? Am I dreaming? Should i go back to bed?
