OOPS, I FORGOT TO HIT PASTE THE FIRST TIME
check out the pic though
it is next in the forum
OK
First of all, are fuel injector leaks common.? See I bought the car and thought they would be a breeze to fix. Well dad and I disassembled what seemd to be half of the motor! and canged all of those O-rings, but he had to put it back together. Because I have the flu. So I have time to ask questions. After he got it back together it still leaks. Is this common?
See the car also has a little miss so we thought that changing the plugs and wires and dis. cap, and rotor would help. They needed it but the car still misses. But we new we were gonna change the o rings so we thought that could be the prob. So? Is my timing off? What is the timing on these cars? 1982 280zx non-turbo.
One thing I have been asking a lot of questions about is my heater. Is there supposed to be a fuse in the regular little panel to. Because I don't have any contacts there...
And one trivial thing. for any 2+2 owners: are there supposed to be some kind of decorative knob on the lever that opens the rear windows? My car doesn't have them. Can you tell me where to get them.

If anyone knows these answers. Roght back, I will greatly appreciate it!!
Thanks,
A fellow z car nut

Simon,

Where are the injectors leaking? hoses, injectors, or what. Some injectors go bad and leak at their seams--replacement @ $50 each new.

The miss could be a number of things.
Is it just at idle, only during a load, or constant throughout the rpm range?

If it's electrical, a good tune-up should catch it. The timing wouldn't cause a miss. You should be running about 12-15 degrees advance with the timing light.

If the miss isn't electrical, it could be an injector, make sure all the contacts in the fuel injection wiring are clean and connecting well. Check the injectors by putting a long screw driver on each and your ear on the other end (while the engine is running). You'll here distinctive clicks if they're firing.

Also, if the valves are out of adjustment, you could get an erratic idle that sounds like a miss.

Just keep tracking it down. You'll learn alot about your car and find what needs to be replaced as you go through it.

Looks like you got a nice car for $850.
