Hello all,

I have an 82zxt with no spark. It has fuel pump sound and injectors click. After much searching in the archives, I believe it could be the power transistor since the coil is good. Does anyone have the service manual for a 1982 280zx? Could you tell me how to test the power transistor?

Thanks,
David

I don't have my 82 ZXT FSM handy but you can try this.

Hook an analogue DC voltmeter (+ lead) to the "-" terminal of the coil. Hook the meter "-" lead to engine ground.

If the ignition module is functioning you should see the meter needle move each time it tries to tell the coil to fire while the engine is cranking.

Disconnect the two wires from the "+" and "-" terminals of the coil and measure the resistance. It should be 0.84 to 1.02 ohms. If OK hook the wires back up to the coil. If NO replace the ignition coil.

Sorry I can not be more helpfull.
