Need HELP!!!
Intermitten knocking noise started after replacing an exhaust bracket that was missing, located at the brace for the transmission. Sounds like a fan hitting the shroud, but I have checked all fans, brakes and exhaust covers. Only happens at certain speeds and when the brakes are applied. Noise will stop when car stops, HELP!!!

First off, what year is your Z ?

Did you check the shields behind the rotors? maybe one of them is rust to the point of almost falling off.

hope this helps you out.

Could it be the sheath that holds the emergency brake lines at either side of the rear underside of your car have broken. I had a similar problem and when I looked under the car, I noticed the brake line was sitting on top of the rear differential (I thinks that's what it's called)and the sheath holding it broke. I bought a new sheath and now the noise is gone. Good luck.
