This winter I have decided that I need to build myself a hot tub. I don't want a fibreglass tub I want something that will blend into my yard. What I intend to do is build one out of stone and have it look like a natural pool or pond sort of thing. There is a corner of my yard that has privacy and a nice view of the woodland area below me. It will be sunk into the ground and have a rock garden around some of the perimeter of it. I can get all the rebar, cement and stone I need for this project fairly cheap. What I havn't been able to find are blueprints for the plumbing and recirculation. Ideally being the cheap SOB that I am, I would like this info for free. Any one have any thoughts on this subject?. I have checked lots of web sites and they all want money for the info.

okay, here are some basics...i can try and draw then scan something into the comp, if you'd like.....might take a few days.

here goes

3 segments of the circulating system.

First- jets
the jets are usually plumbed w/ 2" PVC they circle around the unit and there are two options for design...either a U witht the pump inlet on the base of the U, or just a connected circle. Just a simple matter of purchasing the Jets from a supply store. or if you wanted to go real cheap you could fabricate them with reducing bushings....just remember you will need each nossle to be able to withstand the pressure exerted from the pump.

second- bottom feeders (nickname) actually just the drains at the bottom.
just plumb with 2" PVC and a drain cover pretty straight forward.

Third- Skimmer
skimping on this isnt really worth it, just get the assembly form a pool shop and plumb it w/ again 2" PVC

the flow/ pump-------------on second thought i am gonna draw a picture and i will mail it to you.
