Im about to have my heads machined and need some technical advice.

First I would like to know what are the optimum valve angles for my engine? It's a 240 engine with a hot cam (232/240 @ .050 107 LSA .460" lift), triple webers, and headers.

Also I would like to know how much I can safely shave the cylinder heads for increased compression? I don't want to run into piston to valve clearance problems. Is the timing chain tension adjustable? I am afraid that shaving the heads would make the chain too loose.

Re: TECH HEADS! Need Seat angles...

45 degree I think. you can shave 040" and put the cam spocket to 2nd or 3rd hole. you may need aftermarket valve springs for that cam. check the bind.

A good 3 angle job would be fine if the head is not ported much. I might pony up the dough for a 5 angle job.

You want a smooth flow from the valve face to the bowl.

15deg 30deg, 45deg 60deg 90deg.
