I'm here on bended knee to beg for your expert help on this one guys.
A couple of days ago I posted a message about several lash pads popping out from under the rockers of my freshly rebuilt L28 engine after only several minutes of run time. I went through and checked all of my rocker clearances and they were right on. So I put the valve cover back on and cranked the engine. I'll be DAMNED if I didn't hear the SAME NOISE AGAIN! Took valve cover off again.
This time no loose lash pads. So I took the plugs out and turned the engine over with the valvecover off.
The #6 intake valve is sticking in the down position. Then as the cam comes around it releases upward with force and causes a really loud CLACK as the valve and lash pad hit the rocker and cam lobe. I suspect that the other valves were doing the same thing and that's why I lost 3 lash pads soon after I first started the engine.
Is this my fault? Did the guys at the machine shop put something together wrong? Do I have bent valves? Is there an easy fix? or do I have to take the head off and back to the machine shop? Should I ask for my money back? Is this something I can prove they did wrong? I hate to accuse them of something, especially since I don't know that much about engine rebuilding, but ****, I paid A LOT of money to have those valves worked on!
Hoping some can advise
