I have the original spare set up in the hatch of my 78Z....don't want to depend on old air in a can for flat emergencies....does anyone know of a spare tire size that will fit, fully inflated, in the spare tire holder place? I would like to get a "real" tire...even if it is a "donut", just already inflated!

Lots of them out there, but why substitute.
If you have lived through something like Hurricane Andrew you would become an old hand at fixing a flat. Think about billions of roofing nails on tarpaper everyplace with the likelihood of 50% chance it’s facing your tire. Everyone was fixing flats. It’s so easy.
Nail out plug in. Like Mr Miagi from karate kid Nail out Plug in…very good now repair every tire over and over.

I heard that Mazda MPV spares fit. They are donuts but are aluminum and weigh at least 15 pounds less then full size spares (about half the weight).

That stuff will yuck the inside or your tire.
Think about a pound of yuck settling in and about your tire.
You will add weight to areas on your tire causing a slight balance problem when you crack 100 mph thing will shake.

When I need to pick-up and go for a trip I take one real nice heavy old fashioned spare.

Then I grab an extra spare just like it and take it along with another red can of air.
Note the two rubber bands.
Ya know, now that I look at it, I need to snap that tire.
I advocate the use of Z stuff for Z cars.
The **** with all mongrelizing of our Datsuns.
Maybe I’ll establish a spare tire foundation.
OMG I'm starting to sound like Ward Cleaver.

Wow I just noticed the red plastic cap is off that can.
Now who would of caught that?
This is what I’m talking about; keep it Datsun even the red cap should be in place.
**** even with a full load of stuff I can fly down the highway as people point and say “Crazy Drivers!!!” I’m not crazy…I’m MAD.

What would it be Butter or Parkay?
Tastes like Salt anyone?
Mashed Potatoes or a nice light box of Spud Flacks.
When I go grocery shopping I load my ZX down a girlfriend or two and my daughter.
When you get a flat be cool about it and don’t break a nail.

“Hay Dad look at that cool new car.”
When people slow to look at the cool car it better have a cool spare tire.
You need compulsive people like me around, keeps things in check.
