I have a 1972 240Z with slot mag wheels in good shape with no curb rash. I have one center cap that has a funny shaped "A" on it in silver or chrome - this may give you a hint on the manufacturer!

I want to polish these wheels as I am told they will really shine-up to look almost like chrome.

Any suggestions or should I just take them to a professional at a shop?

It may be an "Appliance" brand wheel. There were lots of aftermarket mag wheels in the 70's for the Z's.

Yep, a swoopy looking "A" was Appliance wheels, a very good manufacturer in those days.
Polishing aluminum is a trial in patience. If it were me, I'd go out and get some different grades Scotch Brite pads...starting with coarse to work out the nicks, scratches or surface corrosion... working it with finer and finer.... maybe even going to a super fine wet or dry sandpaper... (wet sanding) then give it a good polish with a premium aluminum polish, like semichrome or Mothers....

I thought the only Slot Mag wheels were those offered by Wolfrace.

Are the others in the same style?

David - follow KS's advice they should com out nice, take it slowly though.

Is it hard to get hold of the centre caps as i have none left on my Wolfrace wheels
