I guess I have to have a 280ZX slave cylinder rod in my swap of the 82 280ZX 5 speed into my 72 240. The 240 slave cylinder rod seems to be to long. Anyone done this before? Can you confirm?

No, but...

There is someone out there that swears that the slave rod is adjustable. Every model I have is non-adj (currently using 81 5-sp). You may try to pull off the rubber boot on your 240 slave and see if the rod can be adjusted. My understanding was that all the slaves were interchangeable, so you should be able to use whichever you like (leaks less).

Of course, this may have something to do with throw out bearings, or clutch arm pivot. Maybe someone else will pipe in.
