at 5.5 you are nowhere close to the 6.5 you should be as far as revs. remove ditributor cap and try to move shaft side to side, if it will move than it will either have to be replaced or have bushings installed. also, check the coil there is a remote chance it is bad.
Skipping at higher RPM 74/260
Everyone has been so helpful with my electric troubles that I thought I would go for a bit of engine help. Thanks to everyone for helping to get the car on the road. She is running good except when I tach her high going down the road she starts to skip at about 5.5 on the tach. She still climbs in speed and power but she skips and even back fires. She just had a valve adjustment and carbs rebuilt and set up. When this happens the tach jumps all over everywhere as well. Tells me it is something electrical in the firing. Love some help.
