Hey everybody,
I was wondering if I could get some info on signs of a bad oil pump because I think that is what is causing my car to run poorly. Lately, my oil pressure gauge has been reading low even with a full oil mark on the dipstick. It tends to waver a lot too. Thanks for any help.

sounds like a failing oil pressure sensor. In my experience with my 76, 79, and 87 Zs, those have been the first signs that the sensors were about to crump.

I had a Toyota truck that would run noticeably different when the oil got low. Other than that, I doubt if your oil pump or sending unit will cause your motor to run poorly. Z or ZXT? Change the sending unit first, and see if your pressure comes up. If you have a Z, a new ZXT oil pump is never a bad idea and only takes about 10 minutes. Mine went from the needle hovering over the 'O' at average r's to the needle solidly over the 'L' with the new turbo pump. Makes you worry a little less.
