shimmys at 150 mph

thats odd my shakes about the time i bary the speed o then stops at around 120 125 acording to my friends speedo then its just anoying rattls mostly due to not haveing any carpet or sound profing...... mabey its just something a z dus is shake iv had mine at about 180 and the car wont shaking but i shure was... lol

That's a good point. I usually find that at anything above 110mph my rear end is shimmying more than the car's.
Maybe it's the thought of how resilient 25 year-old Datsun steel would be if anything went wrong at that speed

hum 150 ant hard to git out of a z car
im almost stock ...... headers clutch bigger injectors k and n filter 2 1/4 exoust 15x10 inche rims low pro tires cut springs short shift and a few others <1982 280zx non turbo 5 speed 2 seater> and a few others oh i also striped my interor and put summit raceing seats in it.... got 2 jet i need to give my baby a tune up...

Would like mine to hit 150......
My 82 n/a is bone stock, I havn't had it for long however it will still hit 5000 to 5500 rpm's in 5th, I have no idea how fast that is and know it will probalby creep more, it just takes too long after 5500. It only shakes when I let off the throttle. I would like to solve this problem too... Maybe replacing transmission mounts, and engine mounts with poly would solve this I just don't know.
Don't know how freeked it would feel to hit 150!

You just tell me what is the TOP rpm you have seen in your car. You claim 180 and 150 plus. Maybe KPH but I will make a qualified statement that there is no way in **** you went that fast with the setup you mentioned. No way, no how, physically IMPOSSIBLE.
You just give me that rpm, and I'll tell you how fast you REALLY were going...
BTW, stating that you haven't changed the differential in the car is what really blew your boast to the weeds. If you're going to try to B.S. people, at least make reasonable claims...

I hit 5500 down hill in 5TH, swallow that! Flat land like the straight away from Phoenix to San Diego I can hit 5000 with no problem, it will creep from there...... Since you seem to be expert how fast was I going?
Also what mods can I do to pump up the speed? Without changing too many stock components.
About those 150 claims. Maybe he's just excited to have a z like the rest of us, ever heard of stretching the truth a little? Liten up dude.

Mine used to be fast...
my 78 280z used to do 135 if I pushed it, its hard because there aren't many really long unpopulated straightaways on I-95 in SE GA and NE FL, too many tourists that dont know how to drive cloggin up my roads i guess! i changed diffs from 354 to 390 so my baby is a little slower top end but faster at the stop light!

hey my 82 280zx 2+2 has passed the mile markers every 28sec in texas. I did not get a good look at the tach (85mph speedo) due to passing semi's my whole car shook .... then I realized it was me. Was in trail of an olds aurora.

I wish i could get mine ('77) to 100 right now seems i almost blew the engine.......
and the other one ('81)would get up there (100) i am sure but not too much over that......
but would like to get there someday.... i will get there and do the 1/4 in sub 13 that is my goal in life to see 12 on that CLOCK as the first 2 numbers.... double one would be AWSOME but that is asking ALOT

And how do you know when your going this fast are you reading your 85 mph speedo or did you upgrade to the 130 oh yeah thats still shy of 150. Let me guess radar at a track - I don't know of a track that will let you go turn 150 mph laps without a roll cage you didn't mention having that, but that would also add weight to the car which it sounds like you've been trying to strip out.
HP wise you may have 140 at the wheels but possibly less, with the weight of the car, drag coefficient and that amount of power it is physically impossible unless you were racing down a steep hill.
And those wide low profile tires are not helping your top end, they hurt it and add all kinds of drag.
