I'd like to change the seats in my '71 240Z to something more comfortable. I was thinking along the lines of some out of an Eclipse. I wanted any recommendations & was wondering how difficult the installation would be.

I just did this this 2 weekends ago.

Got seats from a '91 Talon(eclipse/laser). (seat ~17" wide and tracks ~13" wide)
PERFECT condition, $100 at my local bone yard.
The 2 front mounts holes line up without any alteration.
I even used the bolts from the Talon.
The rear 2 mounts holes did not line up.
I needed to drill a new rear hole in both sides of each rail. (simple)
I also trimmed the length of each rail by removing about 2" from the rear of each track. (not neccessary but gives it a cleaner look.)

It took about an hour to mount both, with some cleaning rust proofing my floors.
The hardest part for me was getting my big hands in and around the rear bolts to make them up.

The fit is nice, both seats operate fine.
I am 6' 2" and I have a sunroof.
My head can now hit the roof in certain positions (If I try to hit it).
A helmet would be annoying to wear now.
The seats are about 2" higher than my old original '71 seats.
I only got 3 bolts in the passenger seat, I dont remember why?

i have a '77 and also used 90's eclipse seats that i got for $75 dollars for the pair. they were the closest match in size and track. i made a bracket out of 1/4 inch steel to mount the rear of the seats to the original z tracks. and i mounted the front of the seat to the tracks on top of 1x1square steel i got at home depot (it had holes along each side).

i'm 5'10" and the setup is a few inches higher and reduces that feeling of sitting in a bucket. i also put on a grant gt steering wheel (it had the smallest dish)- it gives a little more room for stretching the arms. what a great combo.
