I tried to replace the factory brake lines with Goodridge lines. I removed the line from the front caliper easy enough, but when I went to remove the other end of the line I could not get it loose. The nut on the line would not turn and the nut on the hard line connected to it would not turn. I did not force the hard line because I thought it would break. When I checked the nut on the brake line itself, I found two beads that had been welded on the mount on opposite ends of the nut. The Haynes manual offers no information on this. TIA.

RE: Replacing brake lines

I just ran into this problem recently on 2 wheels of a 280 Z. After many applications of WD-40 to no avail, I finally tried loosening the other end of the hard brake line and removing the flexible/hard line together from the vehicle. I then clamped the small nut of the hard brake line tightly in a vice and turned the large nut on flexible brake hose. Giving the wrench a good rap was enough to break both connections free on the first try.

Hope this helps - good luck!
