Fortunately I live in a state that does not have emission testing and I would like to remove as much of the emission junk as I can. However, I am afraid that I may remove a component that may be critical to keeping the car running properly. I have searched several sites and have not been able to find any help and I would really appreciate it if anyone knows what junk can be removed. A brief description of the pieces location may also be helpful in case I am unfamiliar with the piece. Thank you.

Well the air injection thing doesn't slow you down..and you'll lose maybe 10% mpg if you nix the EGR which is out of the loop when you punch it anyway...easier to just fix the stuff and enjoy the admiration from friends when they see all the polished gizmos under the hood?

I'm not worried about it costing me any horses at all, I was just hoping to clean up the engine bay a little bit. Thanks for your thoughts guys.
