Two questions here:
-1- to get the transmission out; any smart idea how to take the four drive shaft flange bolts at the diff. off a better way then the painfull one (removing everything under it)?

-2- reason for that: rear engine main seal leaks.
Anything on the market to put into the oil that will soften the
seal lip but not ruin something else? (that way I don't have to
pull tranny. Will go through engine in about 1 1/2 years)

Just changed the front seal. Did the rear seal about 6-7 years ago and leaks again.

Thanks much!!

The way I get the driveshaft flange bolts off is by taking the appropriat sized boxed end, but it has to have the angled end, I slip this between the rear crossmember and the sway bar (I think, trying to picture it in my head) and put it on the bolt at the very bottom, break it loose with the E-Brake on, the have someone undo the ebrake, turn the driveshaft (I am assuming you have the car jacked up as I can hardly fit my arm let alone my whole body under the car when on the ground) so that the next bolt is down, and put the ebrake back on, break all 4 loose this way and it should come right out. Oh, once you get the flange off, on my ZX to get the shaft out, I found that if you take the driveshaft and point it towards the taillight on the drivers side, that is up over the halfshaft on the drivers side, it should slide back far enough, to pull it out of the tranny.
As for something to add to the oil, I have no Idea, sorry, I understand your hope of not taking the tranny out, as I just did mine.

Hope this helped at all,
