I have a P90A head on my '83 280zxt, and it doesn't have hydraulic lifters.

That's very interesting. Is it factory orginal? Or, did someone modify the head? I have been looking for a P90 to rebuild/modify by doing Bryan Little's .080 shave, and I have passed on a couple of P90A's in the U-Pull it Yards because I assumed they had the Hydraulic lifters, which scare me. I guess I should have pulled the valve covers to check.

That's interesting. Is it stock, or has it been modified. I have been looking for a P90 to do the .080 mod. on Bryan Little's Datsun Z Garage page and I have passed up on two P90A's in U-Pull it yards because I assumed they had hydraulic lifters (which scare me because I can't afford new hydraulic lifters if they need to be replaced. I guess I should have pulled the valve covers to look.

I would pull the valve covers and check. Mine is a P90A, I looked at it the other day to make sure. I've adjusted the valves a few times, and it has the lock nut and pivot nut. I didn't know any of them had hydraulic lifters until now. By the way this car was poorly maintained before I got it, I doubt there was any modification to the head.

I had the valve cover off to adjust the valves i even got the special tool to torque the locknut. And there they where hydraulic lifters and mine is a P90A head
