Re: RARE CAR 1974 260Z 2+2 Help!

260's were only sold for one year in the US but I wouldn't necessarily call them rare. There's a lot of them out there and they have a great deal in common with the 240Z and 280Z. Take a '73 240Z, add in a few refinements and extra seats of a '75 280Z 2+2, there ya go.

What do you need to know about it?

I think you found it.

If there's anyplace where 260ers congregate, that would be here @ Zcar.com.

I'm quite fond of my late 260 w/ fat bumpers, but it ain't the cat's meow as zcar goes. Now, a 240 w/ '69 production date, that would be another story.

2+2 not usually desired due to excess weight. I've grown to like 'em. It's an acquired taste. Kinda like Hitachi Flat-tops!

Yep!
Actually, something like 75,000 were sold in the US that year. So rare...
I mean, rare is like a LHD 69 Toyota 2000GT with Air. One of 9.
That's rare, for a production car actually sold to the public!
Whacha need to know.

The 260 is rare in that it was only made for one year but in that one year it sold more than any other first gen Z. This is the best darn web-site ever but I also like Datsuns.com. A lot of Z specs, plus some great general auto info in the tech articles.

IN THE USA! Please guys!

The 260 was produced for one year only IN THE USA.
Everywhere else in the world, they got the 260 until the ZX showed up. The 280Z was a North American prospect only.

Re: IN THE USA! Please guys!

i think in the US market, the 2+2 is rare relative to the 2 seater. At a guess i think the 2 seater sold 4 or 5 times as many.

funnily enough, in Oz the 2+2 outsold the 2 seater by about 4:1

Anyway, they are basically mechanically identical to the 240Z except with different carbies.
