I received my pay check today, so I was thinking of buying a Ram Air Induction
system for my Z. But before I wip out the cash I wanted to ask a few questions.

For 130 dollars what do I get? (just a cone filter and a chrome pipe)
Is it worth this much money?
How many more horsies will I get?
If any one out there has got one of these, what differences did you notice?
thanks in advance.

I was considering buying one myself, but I decided their price was WAAAYYY TOOOO MUCH. So I built one out of 3in mandrel bend exhaust and a huge K&N filter. Fits, great sounds cool, and it really does make a pretty noticeable difference in throttle response. I know it couldn't bump HP by more than 5hp or so, but you CAN feel it. My total cost:
$40 for the filter
$12 for the pipe.
total: $62. WOW less than half price, and it probably fits better.

DO NOT PAY 130 BONES FOR AN INTAKE!!!!
A friend of mine was shopping around for an
intake for a '76 280 (the sameone Im about to
buy from him) and he couldnt find anything he
wanted.. So, He bought 15 bucks worth of PVC
pipe (I think it was 3?) and a 30 dollar K&N cone
filter. Anyway, it took him about 2 hours to get it
all measured, built and installed. And, in the end
it gave the same results / perfomance that the
175 dollar DC sports intake on his 10th anniversary
gave... (yes, we swapped 'em back and forth to
see how they compared, and the self fabricated
PVC / K&N intake was just as good as the DC sports.)
So, you can make one yourself for 45 bones or pay
100 - 175 bones for a brand name one that does'nt
do anything more than one you can make yourself
with a couple hours and a saw... Go for it!

-I made my own with a 3 mandrel bent exhaust pipe painted bright red, with a BIG A$$ K&N filter. The filter will cost you no less then 40 for a good sized one...(Get if from preformance international, they are the least $$)...The pipe along with the bend around 15 bucks....however it is easy to plug in however it must be supported by something..so I fabricated a brace that bolts on to the car. In all it took about 2 hours start to finish. RESULTS- well I already had headers, and a webber TB, so when I added the intake I noticed a HUGE difference from 3500rpm up to redline. By its self..who knows?!The intake is more of a step in the 3 step process, once you have all 3 steps completed only then will you notice a large difference.-Good luck
