I just found out that the rack and pinion on my 83 280ZX needs to be replaced. I have suspected but now it is confirmed. The shop wants about $180 labor to replace it. Is this something that most anyone can do? Does it take anything special? I searched the topics and it appears the engine needs to be jacked up to remove the unit? Any thoughts or advice will be helpful.
