I have an R200 out of an 82 that I want to put in my 78. The way the rear end mounts is completely different (I have an entire 82 donor car). I was led to believe this was an easy swap. Am I missing something?

you may need to swap the moustasche bar as well as the half shafts. additionally the drive shaft may need to be altered. i did a swap into my 73 from an 81. the only mod i did was the moustasche bar.

roger,
you should already have a R200 in your 78,but if you are swapping for the better ratio, it's easy enough to do. just remove the rear mount on the 82 diff. and you will find the 2 studs that go thru the moustache bar on your 78. take the front mount off your old diff. held on by 2 bolts that go up thru the case and bolt it onto the new one. your old halfshafts should bolt up. that's all you need to do.

RE:TAKE THE STUDS OUT OF THE OLD DIFF.

roger,
i forgot. you have to take the studs out of your old diff. and use them with the new one in place of the bolts that held the rear mount on.
