I have a 280zx, going to put a new cam with new
springs, rockers, and lash pads. I need to know
if you have to pull the head of the engine
or can leave it on. Has anyone used performance
cams from motorsport auto and are there for
cars with emissions. I checked with crane cams but their cams are for non emissions cars.
Thanks for any info.

You need to pull the head and do a valve job. This is always a must when you are changing springs, retainers, etc. One thing to remember, you can only use the lashpads provided if the valve stem height for each of the valves is the same and done per the specs with the cam setup. Otherwise you will destroy your cam. The lash needs to be set seperately for each valve to insure the geometry is correct. Trust me, I learned the hard way by knocking off about 5 lobes on my first performance cam and sent **** all through the motor.
