Quick Q on Oil Pressure Switch

355 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  jbond
I have a block out of an '80 280zx, but it's in a '77 280z. I need to get a new oil pressure sending switch, but I don't know if I should get one for the '80 or '77 because I'm not sure if they were wired differently in '80. I would assume they use the same fitting for the block, though. Anyways, the question is what year should I buy the sending unit for, '80 or '77? Thanks

Match that connector.

Buy one that matches the electrical connector of the engine harness. NK.
is it a 1 wire or two wire pug on the harness. if it is a 1 wire then it is an early '77 or older if it is 2 wire then it is a late '77 or later one that you want
It's supposed to be the one-wire harness from pre-'77 -- I just wasn't sure if the '77 sending unit would still fit in the '80 block, but I take it as a "Yes", so thanks for the help.
My '77 mfg date is 12/76 and has a single round terminal . Went with the general advice on this item and went to Nissan. He ordered a couple different #s. I got the Nissan #25070-89972 and I works well although a little pricey(about $65)...even has a nice rubber boot! Of course a mechanical guage is always the most accurate but can have potential problems also. Good luck!
Yeah, $65 is a bit more than I want to spend on it -- I think I'll just get the one out of Victoria British for $20. Thanks again for the replies!
