Would putting a Maxima's distributor into my 82 decrease power in any way? Would a new one be better? How bout plugs can I use the expensive 4 way platinum or even the 2 prone, would that beef up power? Simple questions but need to know....

I can't answer the distributor question, but as far as your plugs go:

You're gonna cause a firestorm of controversy here regarding the Bosch plugs. Many people here don't like 'em. They don't like the Splitfires, either. Better to use the NGK plugs that are spec'ed for your engine. I think NGK sells some high end plugs now, but not sure if they are suited to your car.

Ive put the splitfires on a 4banger cavalier and noticed some pep. Wouldn't it do the same for the Z? Why don't peeps like bosch?

I guess I'll go for the Spec'd NGK plugs.

Bosch are good plugs, but NGK is the best for anything Japanese. The Distributor should work fine, pay attention to the base mount...some years are different. The only problem with a used Dist. is that most of them have a shot Vacuum advance, and ball bearings are loose in the breaker plate. Check it, they are not very expensive to buy remanufactured.
