I have a problem that maybe someone could answer for me ... I own a 73 z with the su' carbs Headers 2 1/2 exhaust ect... The thing is why I'm driving normally in 4th gear I can step on it And it pulls still hard. Latly the car has no power,hard to start when its cold out,sneezes out the intake, and doesnt pull hard at all. coulkd the weather be doing this....Live in Palmdale Ca normally the temp gets to 105+ in the summer and winter well 15+ as of yesterday..The termastat that I have In opens real early approx 160 maybe less degrees, should I switch this....ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE HELP FULL before I forget I have sync the carbs and adjusted them many times already but same problem over and over.....

Have you checked some of the other things? Points, distributor cap, rotor, plugs, plug wires, timing and oil level in the carbs? Older cars tend to be more fickle with the weather changes. Some people do a winter tune-up and a summer tune-up. Let us know about the things I listed above. If you don't know how the plugs are supposed to look, compare them to the description in the Haynes manual (Doesn't the Chiltons manual have it, too?). Use an ohm meter to check the plug wires. I don't have a manual handy to tell you the resistance values you should see.

Change the damper oil in the carbs. Use 10 weight or 20 if you have to.
