I have converted my 86 Turbo Automatic to a manual transmission. Now, when I turn the key the starter won't engage. I can jump the starter. Is there a signal (left over form the automatic transmission) that is blocking the starter from engaging from the ignition switch?
Any advice would be helpful.
We have looked throught the FSM but could not really find an answer to this problem. We were able to start the car after jumping a connector from the old automatic wiring harness. We thought we had the problem fixed. But, after several hours (and successfully starting the car numerous times) it now refuses to start unless we hot wire the starter form the battery.
One new thing is the security light now blinks constantly so we are thinking that may be disabling the ignition system. Not sure why this occured.
There are interlocks you need to bypass (mandated by our wonderful nanny state govt) so people with no awareness of life don't start the car in drive. look at the schematic and figure out where they are. Hint: look at the relay section
